The Müller BookTrim postpress system increases productivity in the Book on Demand segment. With its efficient mode of operation, it reduces both the number of printer clicks per sheet and the number of work steps from printing to bound book. An ideal basis for optimum production.
The Müller BookTrim produces online on sheet-fed printing systems and also offline. In the online mode, the Müller BookTrim and printer can also be used seperately from one another for processing of separate jobs.
The system cuts printed sheets up to four individual book pages, but leaves them in the untrimmed size required for further processing. The pages are then grouped and converted into the correct order as an offset stack. Depending on application or system configuration (I- or L-version) the stacking takes place as Book of One (one book) or Book of Two (two books). Now the book stacks are ready for binding.
The Müller BookTrim is the ideal system when small sets of up to 100 books, single copies and books in various formats are demanded.
Processing • formats up to 395 mm x 500 mm, up to 4-up per sheet
Productivity • large stacking capacity up to 2,000 sheets/230 mm
Paper direction • right to left and left to right
The cutter accepts the document and prepares it for cutting. The first step is to align the document. Depending on the requirements of the application, the cutter cuts the sheet into the desired number of copies. A maximum of 4-up per sheet is possible. The edge cut, centre slit-cut, centre gutter-cut, cross cut and double
cross cut functions get the maximum out of each sheet.
The sheet can be output from the sequencer to the left and to the right. That has two great advantages: the system can be set-up to towards or away from the printer in line with the customer‘s workflow. A second channel can be connected in addition to the Müller BookTrim‘s standard channel, e.g. for booklet processing. Thanks to the 2-up processing (parallel), the sequencer acts as a merger, thereby enabling slalom processing.
The separated and aligned documents are offset by 11 millimetres by means of the innovative 2-level gateway system. This is either triggered by a printer signal or code control. The documents are placed on the stacker separated into groups. The stacks can be deposited on the delivery belt without getting caught up in one another. It is therefore easy for the operator to remove the stacks. When the end of the stack is reached, the stacks are passed onto the next delivery belt. The height of the stack is around 2,000 sheets at 80 g/m².
Mobile waste extraction with a large container picks up the trim and cut-outs. When the container is full, Müller BookTrim and the printer stop automatically. Once the container has been emptied or replaced, both systems start up again automatically.
